Help cannot call or text

for two days i have not been able to make or receive calls or texts, yet show 3-4 bars of reception. just received a new sim card and still doesnt work. anyone have a clue what could be wrong?
 
btw, i've talked to 8 different people at tech support already. if i shut the phone off and turn it back on it works for about 10 minutes then stops again. wifi works fine
 
sounds like you need to swap out the phone if its intermitent. when i first saw the title i was thinking airplane mode, but if it works for ten minutes its something else. call a local corporate store and they can tell you where the nearest device center is. thats where they do warranty claims. if they dont have one next to you they can give you warranties phone number.
 
Thanks a lot for the response. I did get in touch with ATT's warranty department and a replacement handset should be arriving today. Hopefully this solves the problem.
 
So i got the warranty replacement phone today. Still will not function properly. Getting really frustrated and att tech support is just running me in circles. If anyone has any idea please feel free to let me know. thanks. Sounding like a network problem to me tho
 
What carrier are you with? This is a light trouble shooting but it only works with the Bell Atrix:
menu button ->Setting->wireless & networks ->mobile network settings ->select network. Do you get issue when you force your phone in 2G or 3G?

If you dial in *#*#4636#*#* to get to Phone/Battery Testing. Go into 'Phone information' and in set preferred network type, what do you have? I believe it's set to GSM auto (RPL). You can select WCDMA and see if that helps (that's what I am currently using).

I believe AT&T has all of these settings disabled.
 
thanks alot for your help....after 4 days on the phone with att they finally realized it was an issue with the tower in my area and it was fixed within a few hours
