Help Cannot charge from car charger

Hello. New to the forum, and to the Samsung Ace 2.

I can charge my phone from either an AC outlet, or USB from my laptop. However, I cannot get a car charger to charge the phone. I have gone through three different chargers, and tried this in several cars, and have had no joy. I was told to remove the battery, plug in the charger, then reinstall the battery. This worked once, but no longer.

Any advice?

Are you doing anything like streaming music or using navigation? Some car chargers are rated less than the stock charger and will only keep up (or less) if you are actively using the phone.

Hmmm....

Are the cords to your charger hardwired or are they USB cables the plug into the charger and the phone? If it is a USB cable, have you tried a different one?

It's odd that three different chargers don't work.

I don't have any friends nearby that use anything other than IPhones, so can't compare.

Sorry I've been MIA on this for a bit. I'm quite flummoxed.

It's highly unlikely you have three bad chargers or several bad cars. I just wanted to drop a note to let you know I'm still thinking on this.

By any chance can you post a pic of the charger or a link to the chargers you have tried. Not really questioning anything, just hoping something in that would make a flashbulb go off in my mind.

Can I ask what the 'symptoms' are? I ask because my wife's Ace 2 won't charge on the car charger I use for my San Diego (and G300 and San Francisco before that). When I plug it in the Ace 2 resets and then does not indicate any kind of charging is going on.

This is just using a standard USB data cable (I think) and a 12v - USB adapter I got from B&Q.

Just thought I'd chime in with this.

My mate has a usb car charger for his Samsung Galaxy 2. I cannot charge my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 with this. It behaves in the same way r_holmes22 describes.

However he also has a usb car charger for his Sat Nav i think its a Tom Tom and this charges my Galaxy Ace 2 fine.

So there must be a problem with certain chargers. Don't ask me what that is I haven't got a clue.

What is the output of the Ace standard charger versus the car chargers you are trying? All the devices I have will use any charger while charging faster or slower depending on the output of the charger. I wonder if the Ace requires an exact match or a tight range of input to recognize the charger.

I had the same issue, turns out some chargers short the White and Green wires in your micro-usb cable this signals your phone that it's being charged. The Samsung 120v chargers do this and some other chargers as well. All of the car chargers I tried do not. If however you wish to use a cable for your car only you can slice the outer layer off the cable locate the White and Green wires cut them and splice them together (going to the phone, leave the White and Green coming from the charger alone they are not used) tape everything up nice and neat the phone will now signal that it's being charged. (Careful not to cut the Red and Black).
