Help Cannot delete floater from home screen

A small "edit" symbol appeared suddenly on my home screen. It is not an icon. Touching it does nothing and I can move it to left, right, up or down. I can't find a way to delete it. I've looked at every setting I could think of.

It looks like this icon which is a color picker. It picks up the color that it's over.
This one is from the XDA site. It may be from a drawing or painting app? Have you recently installed an app that has to do with coloring, or color or something similar? I hope this helps.

You might be able to narrow it down by looking for applications with the "Display over other apps" permission:
Settings > Apps > Special app access > Display over other apps. The app responsible for that floating icon will be one of those which have been Allowed that permission.
