Cannot Edit Contacts

Newbie
Hey guys. I wanted to edit the name of a friend in my S2. In the edit screen the name got changed but when I came to the contacts screen, the name was still as before. I ignored it at first but now I had to change another name and the same problem is occurring. I have recently restored the phone to factory settings. Can that be the reason for this? Eg: When I change Jon to John, it shows in the edit screen as John but in the main contacts screen it still says Jon.

Please help guys. This is irritating me a lot.

Yes of course I did. It bring me back to Contacts screen and says Contact Saved. But there isnt any difference in the name.

I just checked. Its happening with all the contacts. Now i cant possibly delete all my contacts and input them again. That would be so time consuming. Should i restore factory settings again? And what should i do to backup my apps.

There might be two or 3 entries... say phone memory, google and sim. You might have to at least edit both phone and google entries to see the change.

You can export the contacts as a CSV file to your phone. Delete all contacts and import them back as phone entry. Edit those. Then after that, sync back with google.

Or delete phone contacts, edit google, then copy it back into phone contacts...

Point is to play with one type of contacts then only copy.

OR just stick to one type... phone or google.

I followed your guys advices and exported a copy of the contacys and deleted every contact from my phone. Then i restored and voila, eveeything is back to normal. Except thay before it showed which contact had whatsapp and now it doesnt.

Anyways thanks for helping guys. I was really in a mess at work.

Try going into Watsapp and see if you can refresh the contact list...
Or maybe just delete and reinstall Watsapp to force it to pair the contacts from the start.
