Help cannot find motion settings on s3

dwarpy

Lurker
Hey,
this might be a silly question, but i cant find my motion settings or some of the other setting options that are characteristic of the s3

i've got a 16g galaxy s3 with bell, 4.2.1 sgh-1747 which is rooted

i've googled this a bunch but should I be able to activate the tapping gesture or even the tilt on a web page function?
normally it says it would be found under
settings>motion settings but it's not there?

i cannot for the life of me activate tap to top, tilt to zoom, smart alert
what am i missing, why can i find this?
thanks!

Settings, then towards the bottom "Motion On" Then you click on "Motion" to get into the settings.

but it's not there!
there is no 'motion on'
or any option at all in any of the screen shots of it that googled brought back when i was looking into this?

here's a youtube video of someone with the same problem that looks like mine
Galaxy s3, problem motion, problem settings problem... - YouTube

when scrolling through the settings i cannot find the motion menu and cannot enable anything to do with it?

some comment on the youtube video said the options were in the display setting but it is not there

If you are on a 4.2.x based Samsung TW ROM then I believe you should have 'Tabs' in Settings. Go to the 'My Device' tab > scroll down to 'Input and control' > there should be the 'Motion' selector > enable it and after enabling it press anywhere to the left of the slider to get you into the selection menu - there is a whole host of them. Hope this helps. ;)

Its hard to see in the vid but is that a samsung leaked rom or AOSP? theres no tabs in the settings

i had no idea what that roms (beside snes roms) were about

but i sort of figured it out..
4.2.x based Samsung TW ROM - I AM NOT on that
i just learned i am on the AOKP Rom. and google tells me that while running on the AOKP rom, i do not have any gesture or motion controls.
must have been what that phone in the video was showing?

I don't have a 'my device' tab in my settings menu. i've totally explored almost every option in that menu in the past couple hours.
i'm starting to think that if i really want access to the motion settings or gestures i would have to change roms if thats possible.
investigate either the samsung one you talk about, or touchwiz or something.

any recommendations, or have any recommended places to search to begin my quest in searching for the mobile settings on the s3?

look to install a samsung touchwiz rom? okay cool
thanks very much for your help you guys
:)

i'm in canada, on bell.

Just make sure its a rom for your carrier. I dont see an All Things Root forum on here for Bell unfortunately :(
Good luck mate
