I have a gateway NV series laptop running windows 7. I also have a HTC desire firmware 2.1. I am having a hard time connecting my phone to my laptop using a USB cord. When I plug it in, I chose the option of Mount as Disk Drive (because I like putting and taking off photos and videos to and from my laptop) and most of the time I am coming up with a USB device not reconizged error. When I first got the phone I had no problem at all with plugging it in. Then I started having some issues with it and every now and then that error would pop up and I was not able to access anything on my phone through my computer. I know it's not the cord or my laptop because my sister has the same exact phone and was able to plug it in fine. I did a full reset on my phone and it worked for a few days after, but now I am having problems again. Also, when my phone does recognize it it shows nothing in "removable disk". Does anyone know of anything I can do to fix this problem?

Hi bri573, i would firstly advise a format of the SD card through another phone or even better: GParted -- Download
If you aren't rooted with a custom rom theirs not much that can go wrong apart from the Sd card or the Usb itself.

I have never heard of having to format it before.. Is it normal to have to format it? How would I do that? I tried the card through another phone and it seemed to work okay. I only tried it once though but I didn't have any problems with it. I dont have any programs that would effect it. I have noticed that when I turn my laptop on I get a driver incompatibility error. I am not sure if it has anything to do with my phone or not because my phone won't be plugged in when it does that. I really would like to get this fixed because it is really bugging me. Anyone else have any solutions?
Edit: I swapped memory cards from an old htc touch pro 2 with the htc desire and the touch pros card worked fine in the htc desire, but the card from the htc desire is messing up in the touch pro. So now I am thinking it is just the memory card. It seems to work on and off, it is working more than it did in the desire but I don't understand it. It is the 8gb memory card that came with the phone when I got it. If anyone has ever had this problem and has fixed it please let me know. I might just have to go to the company that I go through where I got the phone but I would rather not do that if I didn't have to..
