cannot play xperia.mp4 (h263 video codec)

hi everyone, I notice video playback problem on my x8, somehow I cannot play the xperia.mp4, but I can play tutorial.mp4, both video played perfectly fine in donut.

after checking both video in my pc (which played perfectly) I notice that the tutorial.mp4 using an avc video codec, and the xperia.mp4 using a MPEG-4 h263 video codec.

does any one having same problem with a mpeg4 video?

I too was not able to play that video... I deleted it and ignored the error

I have exactly the same problem. I can play video tutorial, but not experia. I dont need this video, but i cannot play any video i copy in the phone. I have tried several possible formats, no one works. I tried rockplayer and it has two options: 1) play in system mode - this does not work. 2)play in normal mode - this works, but the video runs slower than sound, so its useless... I have tried to reinstal the system, without result. PLEASE give me an advice if you have already solved the problem. Thanks:)

One new information - I had written an email to sony er. suport and they gave me an advice to contact the seller of the phone and claim it. I am not an expert bud I think it is a software problem which could be fixed by some update or sth like this, is it possible that this is some problem in hardware of the phone which can be claimed? How is it possible that one phone has this problem and any other which the same software has not? I dont know, its strange... Thank you for interest

1.6used to play videos after 2.1 it stopped... you can use rockplayer though

If 2.1 can not play videos, how is it possible that this problem has only a few people and why SE support gave me an advice to claim the phone? SE should know that 2.1 can not play videos...
If you know how to solve problem with rockplayer please tell me. Thanks

Hi Jirka, i dont think its a hardware problem, bcoz when in 1.6 the video plays well, but since the 2.1 the video which is in mp4 h263 format (cmiiw) cannot be played anymore.
so i guess you hav to try some alternative media player, to play this type of video.

Thanks. I tried to convert it into another mp4 format ( h264) and it works in the basic player. Its the only format I can play now, but its good. So i dont have to claim it, I dont understand why somebody from SE support did not give me this advice and why the new android can play fewer formats than the old one...
