Root cannot remove superuser permission after unroot.

unrooted my droid x. superuser permission is still in the app drawer. tried uninstalling it, tried hovering the app over the trash can, tried accessing the app via manage apps... nothing will let me uninstall it. i know for sure my phone is unrooted as the 6 apps (that require root) no longer work.

wouldnt be a big deal but my phone wont update OTA anymore so i wanna go talk to a verizon rep and i dont want them to know i had my phone rooted.

any suggestions? Thanks, Adam

The superuser.apk cannot be removed without root.

Re-root, remove that apk from /system/app (or where ever it's living), then unroot.

I had root,I got the OTA, you have to put the phone back to where it was,and you will get the OTA! I dont know if you removed apps, but that may be the problem, also you need to go in and change/remove DX bootstrap recovery in root explorer,if you dont do that it will fail to install the OTA.If your still on 2.2.135 just do an SBF,and that will get rid of superuser icon...I was in the same boat as you, only difference is I got the OTA successfully, and couldnt get root back via Z4root,or terminal emulator, tried for 2 days...I SBFd to the TBH 2.2.230-superuser gone, z4root worked 2nd time i tried it..after 2 days of trying to get root,it took 10 minutes to SBF and reset the phone...

the problem is i can no longer root my phone. ive tried using pc 1 click, ive tried using Z4root. it says rooted successfully and then reboots, but doesnt actually root my phone. when i try to use RSDlite it fails as soon as i push the start button.

yes, i did remove some aps. not knowing that would give me problems later, i didnt make a backup first. im having a hard time finding a good, working RSDlite and SBF file. at first i couldnt get the start button in RSDlite to ungray itself allowing me to click on it. i did some research and saw that people were changing the SBF file name to dx.sfb and that fixed the problem for me. unfortunately the phone fails as soon as start is pushed.
should i be using RSDlite 4.8 and SBF 2.2? if so can someone lead me in the right direction to DL them? Ive looked for a couple days now with no luck.

im not really sure what/how to remove/change bootstrap recovery. im kinda new to this. about a year ago, when adding roms was a lot more difficult... i did successfully root and install new roms on my droid 1. so im not completely a noob.

thanks, Adam
