Cannot select own ringtones

I use a 16gb SD card in my Hero and I created the following folders at root level.

media/audio/ringtones

I put a couple of mp3 ringtones in the ringtones folder but when I go to select one of them as the default the phone doesn't see them...it only lists the ringtones in the phone.

What am I doing wrong?
Should there be...or not be, a green tick against "SD card notifications" within the "Sound and Display" "Sound Settings"?

Found a way around the problem from this thread...2nd post.

EDIT I made the mistake of only creating the "ringtones" folder within the "audio" folder...I didn't bother creating the "alarms" or "notifications" folders...once I added these and rebooted my mp3s in the "ringtones" folder showed up and are selectable in the phone now. YIPPEE.
