Root cannot sync-struck in landscape mode

I have a rooted evo 4g. My friend did the rooting process for me. Since sprint is slow in my area, he said he connected to verizon prls for better signal. Yesterday i updated the profile and prl. When i started to update the htc software, i had issues. it downloaded the system update file, turned off and started installing. but it struck there with an "i" symbol for more than 30 min. i removed the battery and turned it on. since then my phone is struck in landscape mode and i just relaeized it is not giving me the syncing option on the screen. r. whenever i manually select from htc sync after connecting to PC, i don't see the option to sync.

estarted the phone multiple times - no use. tried installing system update again and again - no use.

any help or suggestions?

When you update the prl, it kills the verizon prl, so you are back to sprint.

What rom are you using?

Also, be aware, that when you are flashed to verizon, EVERYTHING goes through them, calls, texts, and data. SPrint is bound to notice, especially if you use the phone alot, and you could very well get kicked off sprint for doing this.

I don't know about the ROM. How do i find it. I fought with Sprint last year about the quality of the signals and ended the contract. I am kind of month to month now. So I don't mind being kicked off.

Let me get this straight. Your friend rooted your phone. Good. nNow a few Q's.

1. Did they load a custom recovery? Clockwork MOD or Amon-RA.
To check this turn the phone off. Then hold the volume down and hold in the power button until you get a white screen with Andy riding a skateboard. This is Hboot. Type what you see in Hboot exactly please. Wait a few seconds, let it do it's thing. Then use the volume down button and select "recovery" by hitting the power button. Your phone will go into recovery after a quick boot. Let me know what you see here.
2. Did you choose the update HTC software update in Settings/system updates/HTS software update?
