Help Cannot turn EVO on

I'm having problems turning my Evo on. It froze last night, which occasionally happens, but usually, if I hit the power button, it unfreezes. This time it did not. I waited until the middle of the night, and took the battery out to get it to turn off. It is fully charged. I cannot get it to turn back on. Hitting the power button doesn't do anything. no white screen, no vibration, nothing. Holding the power button doesn't do anything either. I tried taking the battery out again and turning on, but again, no good.

What happens after you take the battery out and you hit volume down and the power button at the same time?
