Help Cannot turn screen on during a call

The screen shuts off while Im on a call, which is so my face wont accidentally click on a button. I understand that. But when I take the phone away from my face and click on any of the physical/hard buttons, it wont turn on. It only happens sometimes. It's clearly a bug and I had this problem on my Galaxy Nexus as well.

Do you have a screen protector or bulky case on your phone? I've had either of those cause problems with the proximity sensor in the past.

I have no screen protector and no case

It's probably dust in the proximity sensor.
A can of compressed air blown in the earpiece for a few seconds sometimes helps.

I believe it's the two dots to the right of the earpiece based on a quick Google search, but I can't be 100% sure as I don't have an S4 to go off of. Hope that helps though!

Yeah, it's right next to the earpiece. Dust gets in there and blocks the sensor.

A can of compressed air should do it, it worked perfect for me.

But if not then you may have to open the phone and do it yourself. Have a look at
