Help Cannot update my apps...

This kinda goes along with the thread I just posted about getting the Low Space Notifications on my phone. I have about 30 or so apps that need to be updated but I know (because it happens everytime) that when I go to update some, I will get the Low Space notification popping up and then it will NOT allow me to update anything else.

So am I supposed to delete some apps in order to update other apps? This is crazy if so!

Shortly after updating to Froyo, Verizon told me that I should do a factory data reset on the phone. They seem to think that some of my older apps might be conflicting with the newer operating system. I never did the factory reset but am thinking that I should give that a try.

Your thoughts...

I went into manage applications and moved a whole bunch of apps to the SD card where that option is available (not all apps have the option). Freed up a lot of space.

Try Apps2SD from the market... It will show you all the apps that are coded to be moved to the SD card. Be careful about this and DO NOT move any apps that you use widgets for. Otherwise, the widgets will not work.

If you move apps to your SD card, then then you will have more space on your internal storage.

Another option is to root and install a custom ROM that allows you to move any and almost all apps to the SD card. I have done this and I can move apps such as Adobe Flash Player (saving almost 9MB of space). That is an option, but not for everyone.

Also, I tend to say that Verizon likes to revert to the "factory reset" for just about every problem. I had a battery issue where my battery was bad (even had a physical bubble indicating that a cell had burst), but the lady still wanted to wipe all my data to fix it. I was persistent and got a new battery, but it was not easy to convince her that I knew more about my phone than she did.

With that said, I suggest taking what Verizon techs say with a grain of salt and explore other options before doing something drastic...

You have a few options to increase internal storage:

1. Uninstall apps.
2. Clear cache (not the best option as it is very temporary).
3. Clean up/delete data for your apps (often overlooked).
4. Move apps to SD (how much of each app can be moved varies by app).

How is this crazy? I'm not aware of anything that has infinite storage capacity. No matter what you're using you're restricted by finite storage limits.

Of course. It's just like IT recommending that you format and reload your PC to address an issue that you're having. However, in Verizon's case they're only really responsible for hardware issues. Factory reset allows them to determine that software/config/etc isn't causing the issue.
