Help Cannot use public WiFi networks.

So basically this is ignoring the insecure connection warning, OK. Just be aware that third-parties might be seeing your passwords, credit card details, etc.

The error "cert_name_is_invalid", it's because the browser is expecting the SSL certificate to state "Google" when connecting to Google, and NOT "LetsJoin" or "Arqiva" or whatever.

FQ Router is a good VPN, I trust it, it's free and works in China, so I'm sure it will work in the UK. Astrill is good as well, but that's a paid one.

Following the recent security patch the padlock screen seems to be removed.
Once the I want to use this WiFi has been selected I get the logon screen, well I do at work.

Hello everyone, I never felt the need to visit an Android forum until last week, when my daughter's MotoG 4G had the problem mentioned above while staying at a hotel. My phone and my wife's connected no problem. Tried all of the above to no avail. Then tried pulling hair out, banging head against immovable objects etc. Eventually tried opening a new Incognito tab in Chrome and closing the original one, to my relief this worked all week. For info, the service provider was Arqiva and the person on their tech support 'helpline' was reading from a checklist which didn't cover this.

Hope this helps someone.

I was getting the same thing with my Nexus 5 but in Travelodge. Then over Xmas I had my Nexus 9 tablet with me and although I very briefly saw the padlock, it then went to the screen that you provided a screenshot of and from there I could say 'yes' to continuing to use the site and got to the login screen.

In terms of other public wifi, I marvel at people using their mobile devices on trains/public transport in general, as my phone generally refuses to find/connect to any wifi - even though I have paid for and used it in the past. Interesting that @JJMon mentions Arqiva as that's who provides Travelodge's internet and I'm pretty sure that's who provides Cross Country Trains' as well (although didn't get the padlock, just got stuck repeated on payment screen).
