Help Can't Access Wifi Please Help

Must I return this phone?

Here's the problem: My locked but unactivated LG Optimus one P500 will not connect to wifi.
Details: I go to settings, then wireless & networks, then wifi, then I put in the security code for my home internet. and the "connect" button is not even an option. can't press it.

Is there something i'm missing here? Some trick i need to know about a locked, unactivated phone?
Yes i am in the wifi zone.
Yes I have a google account.

Is this a manufacturing issue or a carrier issue?
I've called the manufacturer and they blame the carrier.

Please help me...

Some routers are set up to allow only devices into the network that have their MAC address listed in the security settings. The MAC address for most Android devices can be found in the "about phone" status menu once wifi is enabled.

Also, sometimes a router needs to be restarted for the phone to see its IP address, etc. Restart your router after all settings are in.
