Help Can't add IM accounts

id_mew

Newbie
Hi guys, I've been browsing through this forum for awhile now, very helpful threads.
This is my first post and I need some help.
I'm not able to add any Instant Messaging accounts at all. Every time I try to add an account through the Social Hub and through the IM app, I get "Error Occurred".
I was able to add Gmail and hotmail but I can't add any of the IM programs such as Windows live messenger and Google Talk.
Can anybody please help me?
My phone is unlocked, stock kernel XWKF3.
Thx!

Anybody?
I called Samsung for support and they told be to send back the phone, but I know that it's not the phone that's the problem.

yup that is an error with the phone in USA.. I sent mine back... I will get one if it comes with ATT but that is all.. alot of the things on the phone wont work right here in the states.. also it is slow on the ATT network because it doesnt have the H+ freq. built into it..

It appears that Samsungs uses the country ID from the SIM to validate the phones location.
I had the same issue with my EU version of Samsung Galaxy S2 ("Error Occurred") adding IM accounts using an AT&T SIM but when using a EU SIM (from Sweden) I had no issue adding IM and Premier accounts. I didn't even have network connection as the EU account does not allow roaming so the Samsung lookup was over WiFi.
The added accounts were still available when I put the AT&T SIM back in.
I hope this helps!
