Help Can't add Viber account on my Galaxy S2 device

I recently upgraded my device to ICS 4.0.3 and I have some difficulties regarding the Viber app.

1) I can't seem to add the Viber account so it would sync with my contacts.
2) In Viber itself when I'm viewing the "Recent" tab it goes crazy and writes every contact twice, it blinks and flickers for some reason. I guess it's due to the confusion between the + prefix on the mobile phone number and the local number which is the same in the last 8 digits (The + also has the country code in it).

And in another issue - I guess swype isn't installed here because I can't seem to copy/paste texts viewed.

Hi,

This is a member of the Viber R&D Team.

Viber supports ICS on Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Samsung Galaxy Nexus S Any other device with ICS is considered Altered, or Customized ROM.

Please stay tuned for our next version, it might be more stable on your device.

If anyone has any questions/suggestions for Viber, please feel free to let us know, and we will address them shortly.
Thanks,
Viber Team.

Sorry for bring the thread back, but did anyone solve this problem yet? Or it will be solved on the next version of viber?

Are you experiencing the exact same issue?
Do you have the exact same phone and ROM (+ Android version) as guyweissgarten?

Lastly, have you tested Viber on stock ROM? Is it acting the same, or the problem is only on Custom ROM?

I'm from Brazil, and I have downloaded the official ROM at Kies (Samsung), for my mobile operator (VIVO).

I have two problems, I can't add Viber account so it would sync with my contacts; and sometimes when someone call me on viber my phone doesnt ring at all, I only see the missed call later.

My phone is the Galaxy SII I9100.

Edit: Just to add, I've made a test with my friend who has a iPhone 4, and he called me, but it rang until it dropped and on my galaxy it didnt even show the notification! But when I call him everything it's ok! Weird!

Hi,
Does this problem occur on both 3G and a few different WiFi networks?

It seems both members with this problem share the common link of it being on the same device. Thread moved to GSII forum.

I've tested on 3 different wi-fi, but it seems to be an ocasional problem, because sometimes it worked, and others didn't, but it seems that on 3g it's just fine!

Hi Viber R&D Team,
I use a Galaxy Nexus and I have the following problem:
I would like to add the Viber account to be integrated with my contacts. I attempt to do this by going to settings --> accounts & sync --> add account, and then choose viber.
what happens then is that viber loads but nothing other than that. There is no account integration..

Thanks!

@youngplaya -
It may be that your WiFi network is blocking Viber's ports. Please try this:

1. First, try uninstalling and reinstalling Viber when connected to different a few WiFi networks. Does it work now?
2. Also, please make sure the following ports are enabled on your routers or firewalls:
TCP: 5242 + 4244
UDP: 5243 + 9785

(if you are not sure how to enable ports, contact your router manufacturer)

@aaagever -
This is a known issue actually and we're working to fix it these days.
We hope that in our next big version of Viber for Android this issue will be resolved completely for Galaxy Nexus users. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience :(

It seems to be working fine now, no missed calls in 3 or 4 days, maybe it was my connection!

What about the not adding accounts issue, any solutions?

This is a known issue for ICS users (Viber not integrating on the contact list). We are aware of it and working to fix it.

We hope that a fix will be implemented in our next big version of Viber for Android :)

Just out of curiosity, I didn't had any problems with my wi-fi connection on gingerbread, only when I updated to ICS, is there any relation to it?

Most definitely.

Please note that at this stage we don't officially support custom ROMs with Viber. Running Viber on a custom ROM results in various side effects (sometimes total lack of functionality), but we can't afford to support all custom ROMs out there. We are continuously working to adapt Viber to more and more ROMS, but meanwhile - you might want to contact the ROM developer for further support - they may be able to help with this issue as well.

Actually my phone is not even rooted, but I guess we all have to wait for the next ICS compatible version :)

So far it has been working fine since I've opened the ports.

Oh well.. if it works fine now, then all is good :)
We are continuously working on our new, big version 2.2, so you should stay tuned for news and updates and try it out once it's released :)

Thanks for that info, but why is this issue not on the "known issues" list at your site?!
(at Known issues for Android | Viber Support)

I've spent a considerable amount of time, searching for info, thinking something was wrong in my phone, till I got to this thread.

Thank you for the heads up, we might have missed it when maintaining the list.
We will hopefully add it soon.

Meanwhile, know that our representation in hundreds of forums across the world should also help users like yourself get information from us directly, and fast :)

If there's an issue known to your team, it should be at the list of known issues. Otherwise, that list is incomplete, irrelevant, useless, and should be labeled as such, so that I know that even though my issue doesn't appear there, it doesn't mean anything.

It's faster and easier for me to find out that there's a known issue in such a list, than to start a search for a relevant post in "hundreds of forums across the world", hoping to find one which mentions the problem I encounter, or posting in one of them and waiting for your representative to take notice of my post.

BTW, you can add to the list of devices with "Bluetooth is not momentarilly supported" the Samsung Galaxy Note (that is, if that problem is not already solved by the time you get around to update the known issues partial list).

I will pass the information on and we will hopefully fully update this list soon.
Meanwhile, I invite you to contact our HelpDesk team directly (using this link: Your ticket details | Viber Support) and express a similar request. It will help speed things up ;)

Thank you in advance.

I recently purchased a Galaxy s3 3g and I have the latest version of Viber however I seem to experience the same problem with contacts that have viber for sure not being added to the list.
Before I got this phone I had an iPhone and viber worked perfectly on that with the exact same number.
I have tried modifying the number format but it still doesn't work.
Please help

It is a problem on ICS, the android system that you have on your S3, maybe on their next update it is solved!

Hi,
We are working these days on Viber's full compatibility with the new Galaxy S3.
We hope that in our upcoming big version 2.2 (hopefully a couple of weeks away), Viber will be fully compatible with S3 - meaning all problems resolved - including integration with your phone's native contact list :)

Will the update cover the galaxy SI on ICS?
