Hi,
I'm new to android so forgive my lack of knowledge. I plugged my phone into Kies when it asked me would I like to update my phones firmware.
however I want to backup my Rom as I did Root it previously when I select backup my Rom on Clockwork Recovery Mod, the phone then restarts and goes into a mode for backup it begins to backup then i get the following error
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
I am in the UK on Samsung Galaxy S2 on Orange
I hope someone could help me?as the new ICS Operating system looks very attractive, which I want to update to

Thanks for your help

I'm quite sure Kies won't work on a rooted phone. Try Titanium Backup or CWM (usually installed as part of the root process).

Thanks Swordfish how do I do use Titanuim Backup.

Once you open TI, press your menu key and select Batch. Then select the type of backup you want to perform. Then you will be presented with a confirmation screen. If you are comfortable, select "Run the batch operation"

Hi Swordfish,
Thanks for your replies in Titanuim which batch will back up my entire phone to allow for the update in case it all goes pear shaped

Sorry I'm late to the party. I'm guessing you didn't root with cfroot. Root again with this guide
http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-international-all-things-root/482994-rooting-galaxy-s2-dummies-guide.html

You should now be able to make a nandroid backup.

But as stated you won't be able to update with kies as you're rooted. If you want to update you will have to flash with Odin from here
