Help Can't call the wife!

ALZYMER

Lurker
I've had my Moto G for around a month now from AiO, and although I have my wife's phone number in my phone contacts, when I call her name on Voice Search it tells 'No number saved'! What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do? Any help greatly appreciated.

It could just be the stt (speech to text) engine. Mine tells me there's no "Lori" when I ask it for "Laurie" (the pronunciation is the same). Look at the text it's creating and see if that's how your wife's name is spelled in your contacts. (If not, you may just have to deliberately misspell her name if you want to do a voice lookup.)

Well mate, I've tried all kinds of ways to call my wife and still no luck, but I am at a disadvantage....I'm an Englishman with a Yorkshire accent, and live in North Florida, almost Georgia, and have been soaking up the redneck lingo for nearly thirty years. I probably need an interpreter! Thanks for your help ya'll. ;)

That's funny! I'm a northerner from Iowa, was in the US Navy for almost 20 years so I've picked up a mish-mash of slang/colloquialisms, etc. and now have been living in Texas for nearly 9 years. Now the Texan is trying to assert itself on my language. :D

Edit: I am using the Swype/Dragon speach to text to send texts occasionally to my wife while I drive, and for the most part, it comes out correct.

Glad to report I can now call 'her indoors". I tried calling someone else and the voice search worked great. So I just deleted the wife's name on the phone and then re listed it. Now it works fine. Thank you Rukbat, Thom and Alfick3 for your kind support.

I just thought I'd let 'ya'll' know that my wife's name is Kathleen. I may have left the impression on my last post that her name was 'her indoors', which is just an old cockney term for the wife stuck at home all day. Have a great weekend!

ps: Cockney, a person born within the sound of Bow Bells church in London, England.

I don't understand why you don't just ADD a new entry of "My Wife" with her phone number. Then just ask fir "call my wife".

Seems pretty tough to confuse that one.
