A co-worker has the HTC Droid Incredible 2, I work in the IT department, and recently his password changed for his Exchange account.
Old exchange password expired (11 char) and was changed.
He then updated his phone with the new password (11 char).
After this the phone continued to show authentication problems.
Manually changed password (9 char) in Active Directory.
Updated phone with new password again (9 char).
Phone continued with authentication issues.
Further investigation showed that the phone didn't appear to be saving the new password. I checked by counting the dots representing the password on the server settings menu. The server settings menu continued to show 11 dots even after changing and saving the 9 character password. Also I know its not just a default number of dots being shown, as this persons MSN account on the phone showed 10 dots for the password and their MSN password is 10 char.
The only way I was able to fix the issue was to delete the account from the phone and set it up from scratch, after doing so the settings show 9 dots for the password. This of course is less than ideal, does anyone know of any apps, processes, or settings that would be preventing this password field from being updated. This is the second time we have had to trouble shoot this persons email and would prefer to not have to do so every 42 days when their password changes.
Hints or tips all very much appreciated.
