Help Can't choose my custom notifications any more

I had some custom notifications set which I'd done by creating 'ringtones', 'notifications' and 'alarms' folders under /sdcard/media/audio and putting some MP3 files in the ringtones folder.

These worked great until the other week when I'm not sure what I did, but my sounds all got set to default system sounds. Now when I go into settings and try to select my original notifications they're not in the lists.

I've tried moving the 'audio' folder elsewhere, rebooting the phone then moving it back. I've tried moving the 'notifications' folder out of 'audio' and into /sdcard/media. Neither of these work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Just a question, is the SD Card an external one? It can happen if you put it in the external micro sd and then you took it out, unmount it, etc... so that the phone has to reread the data from the sdcard again.

When that happens, I also have to reset the ringtones again. But if it is in the internal sd card, then I dont know whats wrong.

Thanks for replying: no, it's not the external card. I learned the painful lesson about putting ringtones on an external card a while ago, so they're all on the internal storage now.

I don't know if this helps, but I use an app called Ringtone Maker to make my ringtones. I move all the relevant ringtones to a folder (named ringtones) in my external sd card. After that when I want to set a ringtone for a contact for example, I will select that ringtone from Phone (Not from my files). The ringtone should be in the Phone Ringtone Option.

Don't know of anything else

I fixed it in the end by copying the whole 'media' folder off the phone, deleting it, re-creating it and its sub-folders, then copying the content back in.

Also notice that any custom tones you add to the list/select will disappear from the list when you set a different one. (might be after next phone off or RAM purge rather than instantly)

I never had this problem. The ringtones always appear in the "Phone ringtone option" for me.

I used Ringdroid tocopy tunes to notiification folder. from there set upthe tunes/ringtones as notifications , alarm or else.
