Can't clear data from dialer storage?

So my dialer storage is over 9mb and I want to clear some memory, but I can't delete the data? There is just a grey box. I'm also finding it hard to delete my messages, as whenever I try to delete a thread, it just freezes and it force closes. Any solutions etc?

Try history eraser from the market. It also clears cache and more.
