Root Can't connect in Debug mode?!

So, i finally Decided to root out, and put a custom rom on my epic, i've got the 2.5.5 one click root downloaded, but when i put my phone into usb debug mode, it won't read my phone, am i missing something, or not doing something that i am supposed to be doing?

got it to work. phone is now rooted

Same, got my phone roooted, but im wondering will barnacle wi-fi tethering work with the epic?

I down loaded wifi tether but haven't had a
chance to test it yet
