Can't connect pendo tab to TV with HDMI cable

Appreciate any assistance I can get. When I connect my Pendo Android tab to my digital TV I get no picture at all. The manual says it should be plug and play. Do I need to download an app or something? I have Pendo 4.0 7" Multitouch.
