Can't connect to Win7 share from Android, but fine from other Windows machines

I have several shares defined on my Windows 7 x64 desktop which are accessible from all other Windows 7 machines on my network. Until recently those shares were all accessible from my Android devices using ES File Explorer (Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Galaxy S4). Today I get this error when I try to connect to any of these shares from ANY of my Android devices:
Login fails. This may be caused by:
- WLAN is off
- SMB Server is out of network scope
- The IP is invalid
- Blocked by the firewall
- SMB service is off.

I connect to the server from ES File Explorer using my usual Windows id/password (which is an Admin account, and has full access to the shares). All of the shares are listed correctly, but I get the error above when I try to connect to them (i.e. tap on them to view the folders).

Up to now I have been connecting to these same shares without any problems, using the IP address and my login credentials. I even tried creating a brand new share, will full access permissions granted for my user id. This share is listed fine in ES File Explorer, but once again I get the error above if I try to connect to it.

I also have a Windows 2008 Server and a Windows 7 x32 machine on my network. The Android devices have no problems accessing the shares on either of those two machines. It's just this one Windows 7 x64 machine that is the problem (but only for Android devices - other desktops on the LAN can access the shares no problem.

I have disabled the Windows firewall, and also disabled the AVG antivirus protection, but it didn't help. I'm not running any other AV software. I do run Oracle Virtualbox, but don't know how/if that would interfere with anything.

Any ideas??

The orcal does cause its always running. But u say u have a 32bit ????

I have another PC running Windows 7 32 bit (but not Oracle Virtualbox) and my Android machines can see the shares on that machine fine. It's just the Windows 7 64-bit machine that's the problem (and it has Oracle Virtualbox installed). Could VBox be the problem??

Is your vbox up to date I hate to have to explain this to you but you may need to remove until you finish the work . I had problems with vbox . you in need to know how to run vbox very good if not . the vbox is holding IP.

Yes it's 4.3.12, which I believe is current. Why would this only affect Android devices accessing the shares (and not other Windows machines which can access them without any problems?)

This is the reason

10 VirtualBox Tricks and Advanced Features You Should Know About

Now the vbox can hook any USB device without the cable so your vbox is thinking you want to ad another device over your WiFi.

I've read the content of that page but I don't see any explanation. In particular, I don't see any connection between the USB connectivity on VBox and Wifi - they should be completely separate?

Also, my Windows 7 32-bit laptop connects to the network via the same wifi router as my Android devices, and it can access the shares on the Windows 7 x64 machine without any problems, so there can't be a general problem with wifi devices - it seems that only my Android wifi devices are affected by this.

I haven't seen any but u can get the download and keep handy . once you complete the work just reinstall . its a pain I had to use vbox to root a device but when I had it running it disabled other devices til it did its thing . what you using the box for

I also have this issue, I can connect to the shares after rebooting the PC though. But after a while I get the same error in ES file explorer.

I am also running Windows 7 x64 with Virtualbox so there may be a connection there.
