Can't connect your GS2 to Kies?

up until recently, my Galaxy S2 would work fine and connected to Kies. I use it to check for firmware upgrades and backup my phone.

Suddenly, it stopped.

I haven't changed anything on my computer, not installed any apps on my phone.

Well, i did change something on my phone.

I added a lock screen password (actually a pattern combination). i've checked it twice, with a pattern combination my phone just will not connect to my Kies (even when the phone is unlocked)

It sees the phone, it just says 'Connecting...' for a couple of minutes before eventually giving up.

So, if you can't get your phone to connect to Kies, try removing any lock screen passwords.

I was going mental trying to connect my Galaxy W to Kies.

I removed the screen lock and it connected.

Now I just need to work out why my wifes Galaxy Ace isn't connecting.
