Can't create shortcut on Pixel 3 home screen

I had an LG phone. I had my home screen organized into folders and shortcuts in those folders. I now have a Google Pixel 3 (version 10) and I have most of it set up but I can't put shortcuts to documents on my home screen. Research says to use ES File Manager and select the file and when you hit the 3 dots you get an option to create a shortcut. I have tried every option I can find and none of them let me create a shortcut to a file on my home screen. I can copy the shortcut but then can't paste it on the screen. I can put the files on my home screen but then I can't combine them into a folder.

Any ideas?

Maybe try a different file manager? I use x-plore file manager and am able to create shortcuts on my Pixel 2 XL.

Gee thanks. That worked. I had tried 4-5 file managers and none of them worked. This one did the trick.

i would ditch es file explorer as well. there are tons of articles on it. it has been removed from the play store

So odd that so many didn't work. Now I'm curious if I would have the same problem with others. Glad it worked though and thanks for letting us know.
