Can't decide between the HTC One and Nexus 4

The nexus 4 is a great phone, but is pretty fragile compared to many other devices due to it's all glass body. Personally I love mine, but I always have that fear of dropping it and shattering it. If you do plan to get one, I recommend buying it from Google rather than T-Mobile because you will save yourself nearly 200 dollars in the long run doing so.

I'm considering returning my iPhone 5 for either an HTC One or a Nexus 4. I've had Android before, most recently with a GS3. A big reason why I got rid of the GS3 was the build quality. I'd pick it up and almost feel disgusted with myself, thinking "I paid $400+ for this!?" I wanted the high quality I was used to back, so I traded for an iPhone 5. I actually recently sold that iPhone 5 (for a profit) and got a T-Mobile iPhone 5. But I'm not satisfied with it because the screen is too small. I do a ton of web browsing, and it's frustrating to use a screen of that size. I have until 5/12 to return it and get a full $650 refund.

So I'm stuck between getting an HTC One or a Nexus 4. I fell in love with the Nexus 4 when it came out late last year. That was the phone I originally wanted, but couldn't get one and settled for a Galaxy S3. My only concern with the phone would be battery life. But recently, with the HTC One getting rave reviews, I'm considering getting that phone. My only concern with the HTC One would be that it's too big to fit in my pocket and that HTC Sense will affect the experience (I've never liked the old versions of HTC Sense.) So which one do you think I should get?

Well, if you liked the feel of the iPhone 4/4s, then the Nexus 4 might be better for you since they both have glass bodies.
If you want a phone that is sturdy, but still feels like you paid a good chunk of money for it, HTC phones are known to give you that experience.

The HTC One shouldn't be too big to fit in your pocket since I know some small guys that carry around Note IIs in their pockets.
Also, if you don't like the new Sense 5, if you can flash an AOSP ROM such as Cyanogenmod to get a "stock android" experience.

iPhone has almost all Androids beat for build quality because Apple doesn't have a multitude of manufacturers putting them together with varying degrees of quality control. That's Apple's biggest achievement, in my opinion.

Android, the newer nice big guys like the two you're considering, are mostly saying, "handle me and make a decision." :D

Go to a store and play around with them. Pretend you own it.. etc. If you've had a Galaxy S3 and it was toy-like compared to the iPhone, I don't blame you for rejecting it over time. But now HTC has uncorked quite a piece of hardware with the One, according to reviews.

You're seeing a lot of reasoning in this thread. In my opinion the very best reasoning happens when you have spent some time prior to purchase with all of the devices you're considering. Patience pays off in the long run. ;)
