Root CAnt decide if I should Root? ROms , clocking ???

What are ROMS ? are there diff ones it is like an operating system? Also can you go back to factory settings if you decide its not for you? Will the cell service still work propery ? I had a ipod and jailbroke it and hated it , it was a waste so I wanna make sure this is not the same senario thanks for any help

I would say that rooting is way worth it. If for nothing other than removing bloat. I'm pretty much a noob at this. So I'm not sure if you can go back to "stock". As far as roms I think there are only 2 for this phone at this time at least that I know of, and it's not so much as a new o/s a much as a new interface. I had my phone for a week before I rooted it, and I love the result! As long as you can read and follow directions it's pretty easy. It took me about 3 hours to root and that was because I had"lost" one of the sdk files once I got that straight no problems. Everything on the phone works data wifi and calls just like stock, just without the bloatware and with the choice to customize everything.
