Root Can't do wifi tether

[Soviet]

I installed OpenGarden Wifi tether and connected my laptop to it. However, when I launch Chrome, it takes me to the verizon wireless tethering site, and tries to open my wallet up. I thought the app is supposed to bypass all this crap?

My phone is a rooted DROID X.

Hello Soviet. Welcome to the forums!

Here's a link to Verizon's tethering policies for you:

Verizon's Official Tethering Policy

As you can see, a data plan is necessary with that carrier in order to "legally" tether.

Please understand, we can't provide advice which could give the perception of allowing anti-carrier/user agreement ("Terms of Service").
