Help Cant download apps

I just got my atrix today so I'm still a bit of an android dummy. I try to download apps but it gets stuck at "starting download" basically. If I press menu in the market app and go to my apps it shows the apps I want and its attempting to download them, but it never does. It also shows that there is an issue with it trying to connect to google talk... I am assuming that is the reason why it is not downloading anything. I've set up a google talk account and it still wont work. Can anyone help me? thanks...
