Can't download updates from the Google Market

My friend has the HTC Inspire but he is just using it as a wifi media device since he can't afford his AT&T service anymore. The other day while playing with it I noticed that many applications in the Google Play store seem unable to be downloaded or updated. I keep getting a message that his device is not compatible. Any ideas if this is actually true or if his phone has some mental issues?

It could be true. Depends on the app. Some apps may require ICS to run. If you're still running stock Gingerbread, then it would say it's not compatible. For instance, I'm still running a GB ROM and I can't install Chrome. You just need to check the requirements for the app. Just b/c it says apps are not compatible doesn't necessarily mean something is wrong with the phone.

Pandora? ESPN Scorecenter?

Those are basic apps that should work on Android 2.3. But he can't even update his current apps on his phone. Keeps coming up with a message that the phone is incompatible?
