The HTC Desire HD does not have a front camera.

As for the running applications, you can see which applications are running by going into settings -> applications -> manage applications. Select the "running" tab, and you will see running applications, you can select some that you don't want to be open and press 'force stop'.

If this message was helpful, be sure to give me a 'thanks' :)

what does the information at the bottom of the screen mean in this section by the way? ie. "other:69MB in 4 Avail 264MB + 225MB in 39"

From everything I've read and experienced, it's best to just let Android decide which applications should be allowed to run in the background. I suggest you search these forums for "app killer" or similar... the general view is that recent Android versions are better at managing multi-tasking than we users are!

The only thing I ever do with regard to multi-tasking is do a long-press on the Home key. This brings up a list of recently used applications, allowing you to quickly switch between them. Forcing an application to close is something I've only occasionally found necessary, when an app has been mis-behaving.

Some people don't know all the technical aspects to android, it can be a bit confusing to newer users. Not everyone is a troll :)

Erm. Not being able to find a front facing camera that is clearly not present is hardly a technical aspect of Android.

To be honest, does anyone actually use video chat? I didn't on my old phone.

Used it probably twice, and those times were just to see what it looked like, kinda pointless imo, Had it on the phone I was using before I got my DHD, A SE Satio and not once used video calling.

Sorry, in Android 2.2 and upwards, Task Killers are not needed, Android is efficient at killing apps/services when it doesn't need them. Just because you see a task sitting in memory, doesn't mean it's eating up battery.

I can find you some links to explain it in detail if you like?

Yeah, advanced task killer will actually waste energy rather than improving battery life.

Some people think the proxmity sensor is a camera and others assume it has one as the DHD is a top end device and therefore must have a front facing camera.

When I got my HD, I too was surprised there was no front facing camera, and I did look for a little while. I just assumed it was a pretty standard thing when I purchased the phone, like it is on the new Desire S. Lets not take out daily frustrations of everyday life on someone who asks a valid question.
