It is Android has a boy it's like tunnels and layers and when he can't climb the pipes he calls for his rat and he does it for him to push the button to go any further I thought it was called lab something but believe the game Pic is the boy and he is wearing black with black hair but you have to get through the layers and doors

First thought was Chrono trigger, it was in the distance future of where lavos was ruining the future for the past civilations, but no it does not sound like that, so my next thought was Rusty Lake, that does have a lab into it, different labs.
