Help Can't find Google Earth

Hi all. Strange problem ... The Android Market is telling me that Google Earth is downloaded but it is no where to be found on my phone. I've looked everywhere and even had other people look. I tried shutting off the phone and turning it back off. Nothing ... Anyone else having this problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

was the same for me in the market but i can't remember if it was in the app drawer or not. if not, it just means it needs to be updated for ICS. i noticed other apps that weren't "installed" but come on the device (Voice Search), and this is because the version shipped on the phone is for ICS and the one on the market is not.

just a brand spanking new OS where developers, including Google, still need to update some apps for it.

On my phone there's an icon for it if you go to the apps list by holding the central button on the home screen down for seconds.

If you then touch the icon for 2 seconds you will be able to drag it to your home screen.

It works on mine - I've not tried opening it because I'm in the depths of a large building with no reception atm.

Thanks guys for the responses. Its strange, it really is no where to be found. My uncle has the galaxy nexus also. He has google earth in his app tray and it works just fine ... Just one of those strange things that comes along with a brand new OS I guess.

I've had exactly the same problem. I did find an article about a problem with updating some apps as the signature of the preinstalled apps was a different version to the ones in the market.

Hopefully it'll get fixed soon as I can imagine Google Earth looking pretty good on the Galaxy Nexus

Fixed it!

Download Astro (file manager) go to /system/app. Scroll down to Google Earth, tap it (not a long press) and select 'install'.

This also fixes the market issue with no option to install/uninstall/update etc.

It would presumably work with any file manager btw.

Thanks bud! But I wasnt able to find the system/app folder or get to it. Couldnt find anywhere to type that location in either ... any ideas? Does it need to be rooted?

Update ... okay so I found it. But I couldnt long press and get anything to say install. And when I clicked on the link in the file manager it couldnt run the application or uninstall it. Any ideas?

Update 2: got it to work. Had to go some rigging in Astro file manager to get what I was looking for. Thanks guys for you help! Enjoy the phone.

Go to Market
Download Astro file manager (or similar)
Open Astro File manager and select the top choice "File Manager"
Hit the "Up" tab (second from the left on the top)
Hit it again
Tap on system
OK, It's not just Earth so keep scrolling till you get to Google Earth.
just tap Google Earth, don't long press it.
Select install.
(That just took me way too long for something so simple)

This works perfect! Thanks

I had it installed on prior droid's.

It's 100% there on my VZW SGN. Are you all running the GSM version?

Those are two different phones, very different.

I had same problem with Google Earth (Galaxy Nexus Verizon 4.0.2). Astro File Manager was not working properly (Up buttons were just left blank). So I tried another file manager.

1. Moved up to "/" directory.
2. Moved to "/system" directory.
3. Moved to "/system/app" directory.
4. Scroll down to GoogleEarth.apk
5. Short tap to install.
6. If warning message about installation being blocked, choose "setting" button, then click to allow non-market app installation.
7. Install it.
8. It should show up in app drawer "Earth".
