Root cant flash clockworkmod recovery!! help!!

i rooted using revoked3 and everything was fine but when i go into Rom Manager and go to flash the clockworkmod recovery it says

"an error occuurred while flashing your recovery."

i followed everything to the T so it should be working fine but no matter what i do this keeps happening. ive rebooted, pulled the battery, turned on wifi (some people said this helped them) but nothing works. please, im fairly new to the rooted life, but nothing i try seems to wanna work.
 
first off welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rom manager is the front end of clockwork mod recovery. which version were you trying to install? can you boot up? also check to see if you have a recovery. power off then press and hold power+vol down. select recovery.
 
Have you been able to get to recovery before? Unrevoked should have flashed cwm when you rooted your phone. Do as Ocn said and check to see if you can manually get to recovery.
 
ok, so im not sure what i did but i went to try it one more time and it worked. i had just deleted a gang of shit off my phone so im assuming maybe there wasnt enough space on the sd card?? not sure, but i definitely feel like an amateur now. thanks for the help, as well as the welcome!! im sure ill be back!! :)
 
ok glad you got it working again. one word on rom manager. it tends to be buggy and i always recommend that you do everything in recovery manually. and also make a nandroid backup anytime you make changes to your phone. nandroids are your friends.
 
To take things a step further, ditch ROM Manager AND CW and start using Amon RA (which is the "Flash Alternate Recovery" option in RM). You can also find it here.
 
hi there i am just starting out so dont know much but i had this problem and all i did was updated the su binary as mine was out of date and hay presto it work i could flash clockworkMod recovery

like others have said on this thread i still would recommend amon ra2.3 over clockwork mod any day. not sure if the su binary really has anything to do with installing a custom recovery. but i'm glad it worked anyways.
