Root can't get into cwm recovery mode

I have an lg esteem running zve and I used the aio from this site to root it and install cwm. That part seemed to go well, no errors. The instructions go on to say to install quick boot(reboot) from app store and restart phone into recovery boot mode and run a backup. Well I did all that but when it restarted it would show the little android guy standing next to a triangle with a yellow exclamation point in it. I can restart it by holding the pwr button and it reboots normally. So I try the hold the pwr button and vol +/- buttons and it comes up in a different mode and I hit the pwr button three times. It resets my phone back to original factory settings and all my downloaded apps are gone. So how can I get past the little android guy and get it to boot into recovery mode and is there any way to get my old apps back? I never got a chance to run backup since I never got into recovery mode.

Hello and welcome to the forums. I see your having a problem with a android device . From the looks you didn't root . You want to run this root method with the USB DEBUGGING . checked . Yes check that option . You can get to this from
Settings>application scroll down to the development last choice that will take you to the usb debugging . Check that option and go back to home screen and root on . When done rooting .i normally use the option to recovery when its done to make sure the root works . Any problems feel free to post back for anything u need help with .

When you plug up your device to the computer or laptop what happens to the pc and the phone . It maybe that you don't have usb drivers installed

When I plug the phone in it displays a little bug in the title bar and says "usb debugging connected" on the pc side it just opens a windows explorer window and I can see some files that are on the phone. when I tried quick boot for the first time the superuser app came up and asked if I wanted to give it super user permissions so it seems like it rooted but not still not sure why it's not going into recovery mode. Thanks for the help on this.

Can i ask which number are u selecting . Choose the clockworkmod . But before u do so first unroot the device . I repeat first unroot the device unplug usb power off and and do a reset to the device then go back and root with choosing the root with clockworkmod .

Umm ok I can do that but what do you mean by pwr off and then do a reset? Do you mean factory reset? Or just remove the battery type reset?

When you see the android . This reset happens when you hold the volume down/up and pressing the power button on . That's reset . Then do the rooting again using the root options with clockworkmod.

Ok I tried all that but the same thing happens. It seems to root the phone just fine but when I try to get into recovery the little android guy and his triangle show up. I even tried doing the root and RZ recovery and that did the same thing.

Well the only thing can be is you don't have all the DRIVERs cause i just did mines and it worked well . Now did you try to get into recovery after rooting by selecting the number. Try to get into recovery . Post back with results .

Ok, I saw some other posts mention success with ROM manager and ZVE so I downloaded it and it updated CWM for me to a later version 6.x instead of 5.x that comes with the AIO package. I can now get into recovery mode. Thanks for your help!

O ok and i should have told you i changed the aio root . I saw the cwm touch and made the aio root into the touch . But you did root and you got into recovery . I hope you made a back up .

Backup for what? It already deleted all my old apps when I tried to get into recovery using the pwr button/vol +/- buttons. Does it backup the standard factory settings?
