Help can't get into phone to set debug

ccp0485

Lurker
i have a problem that i have been trying to sort out now for several days and its starting to drive me a bit crazy, hoping someone here will be able to help.

i woke up a couple of days ago to my phone stuck in a bootloop. no idea why (it was fine when i left it on charge to sleep)

i switched the phone off and booted into recovery to see if wiping the phone and clearing the cache was to blame. no luck it was still in bootloop. i had only put cyanogen rom on it a couple of weeks prior so went back to recovery to search for the zip and reinstall. this was what struck me as odd, nothing was there. like the phone was empty.

i had never connected the phone to my laptop before and now realise that the drivers are not set up for it. the laptop does not see the phone and makes no noise to signal that a device has been connected. i have tried using wug rootkit to install the drivers manually but there is no device in device manager that comes close to my phone.

im guessing that because debug is not turned on that its not helping matters.

i have tried to use both ADB and fastboot to get into my phone but to no avail.

i have tried to mention all i can any questions i will try to answer as quick as i can.

sorry if this has been answered before but i cant find any answers. any help is greatly appreciated.

It kind of sounds like your device may have encountered or developed some manner of file system corruption. You may not be able to recover any data, but (unless there is a hardware problem) you should be able to at least get it up and running again.

I'd suggest that you give this thread a read: http://androidforums.com/android-sy...e-how-flash-nexus-factory-image-manually.html

It includes a link to Koush's universal adb driver which should help you get connected.

On a sort-of side note, I generally recommend going the manual route (as described in the thread I linked) instead of using a toolkit; toolkits can be very handy, but they often leave you without much information if something does go wrong. Being able to manually "fastboot flash" your system back to life is always a useful skill to have, particularly with Nexus devices. :)

By the way, not having ADB debugging set in the Android OS has no impact on being able to fastboot or adb while in the bootloader or recovery.

I hope this info helps; please let us know how you get on!

thanks for the reply. i have to leave for a night shift now. dont want to try anything whilst in a hurry. i will report back when i get in.

quick question before i leave. would the same uni drivers work for a nexus 5? my flatmate has one and connects to his laptop no problem. im thinking i could use his laptop as i know the drivers are working for him.

They're both made by LG, so I imagine they would.
