Help Can't get into recovery after jb update

Since the update, I can't seem to get to the recovery to clear my cache. I reset the phone with power and volume up. Get the menu, press volume down to select recovery. Press volume up to select recovery. The phone begins to boot with the red motorola sign but all i end up with is the android on its back with an exclamation sign on its stomach. What's going on? Help me. Please?

Hold BOTH power up AND down while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button (3 fingers works best). Let go when the recovery screen appears, and navigate from there.

Sorry. Maybe I didn't explain it clearly enough. I can get to the point where I can choose the recovery option by pressing volume up on it. But I get the dead android before I get into recovery.

Don't do it on a charger or connected to a computer. I had an issue on the prior leak and couldn't figure it out.

Connect the usb cable before going into fastboot if that is your intent.

wait that's different, it was hit or miss, again, the prior leak... Should happen fast, but there's some accounts that say to hold it for like a minute... interesting.

I get the same thing too. So it's not just you.

Hm. So i guess there's no way for me to clear my cache at the moment then huh. I can get into the boot menu just fine, and before the update I was able to select recovery which would bring me to the menu that allowed me to clear cache. But now since the update, when I choose the recovery option from the boot menu, that's when I get the dead android. I hope this is something that will be fixed with a small ota patch.

Again, had the same before, just tried, and no-go. Let me search my emails and stuff. There might be a trick, but might not... I've only confirmed that it doesn't work. GRRRR

When you get the dead android, hold volume up and down for a few seconds, then release. Should bring up the recovery menu with option to clear cache.

I'm in.

Let me try to recreate this....

edit: no dice, fubared it with a finger slip so I hit it again with power and both vols, and it came up.... grrrrrrr I can't remember

Weird. Just tried it and it worked for me. Something else that could cause it perhaps?

No idea, just a clean shutdown, then power vol+, then I think my finger slipped on one of the buttons, then got them back on, 1 second later it came up. We are close!

bam, just tried again, normally.

On the triage screen, held both vol's for about 10 seconds. Released and I'm there... trying again in a bit here.

hold both down for a bit, keep the right vol down, release left?

edit: I was on the triage screen for a long time, just got in again, could be random!

YUP

Power off.

Power and vol +

Recovery menu.

Select recovery.

Vol +

Wait for the triage android to appear. Hold BOTH vol's down for 10 seconds. Release the vol+ while still holding vol-.

In every time now!

Why would I want to go into that menu? I just tried it, powered down and then held power and volume up and i seen that menu but I did nothing and like 3 seconds later the phone just booted normally. What does clearing the cache do and why doesn't it clear itself on shut down?
