I am trying to root my girlfriends pantech burst. The OS is 2.3.5, and it came from AT&T.
Here's what happens when I run the root from http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=297 . fyi the os upgrade tool on that site is in the internet archive:
http://web.archive.org/web/20140801....com/Pantech_Burst_OsUpgradeTool_Ver2.3.0.zip
http://web.archive.org/web/20140802....com/Pantech_Burst_OsUpgradeTool_Ver2.7.0.zip
People have said that I should run ICS first, and then root it. Will the upgrade remove all apps, data and sms? I do have a backup from pc suite but I'm not sure if it can be converted from 2.3.5 to ICS.
The output is below:
I follow the steps here but still no luck, the phone sits at fast boot mode:
Edit: Ok, I realized that I need to install the fastboot drivers, but I can't find a driver that the Windows XP driver tool will recognize as matching the Burst hardware. Does the pc suite driver conflict with fastboot?

This next step flashes a legacy bootloader that allows
fastboot flash of boot and recovery images.
THIS IS NOT RISK FREE, although risk is as low as possible.
THIS IS OPTIONAL AND IF IS OF NO INTEREST TO YOU, DO NOT CONTINUE.
