Help Can't get to dialing keypad

I recently bought an Incredible 2. It was working fine, but now when I tap "Phone" at the bottom of the home screen, a small grey "phone" comes up, but not the keypad. I wasn't able to sync my old flip-phone to this one, so I don't have many saved contacts. How can I get to my keypad? This is a new problem - it used to work just fine. Thanks!
 
this started for me last night. after 3 battery pulls, i decided to perform a factory reset (which I HATE doing). But i figured, what's the point of having a phone that I can't make phone calls from?

I am not piecing together all of my apps and widgets again. what a pain.
 
Yep - I took it to the Verizon store and they checked to see if my apps had messed it up (I'd only downloaded a handful - I've had the phone less than two weeks). None were, but it was a software problem and they factory reset it. You're right - it's a pain. Hopefully one that doesn't continue.
