Help Can't install device to PC

CodeGreen

Lurker
Four days ago I connected my Note 2 to my computer and nothing popped up (to access files). There were many updates for Windows and most of them failed (there are many threads with the same problem). I don't know what's going on. So when I go to Control Panel>Devices I see my device (GT-N7100) there with a yellow triangle with an !. I click on the Properties and I see "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device (Code 31). In there I tried to update the driver and it said "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device
Access is denied.
I know nothing about drivers and phones.. so sorry, this is the best I could explain it as. Take note that my computer was able to access the driver before this happened. I tried on the school computer and it was working fine. I downloaded Kies but the program couldn't detect any devices. Also, while my phone is plugged in (via USB), it is charging, so I don't know what's the problem. Any help would be appreciated and sorry for over- complicating the situation lol.

Try the following method:
1. Download a new Samsung android usb driver and install it. FYI, you can refer to androidicloud.blogspot.com/2014/04/android-usb-driver-for-samsung.html and see which one can be your option.
2. Turn on USB debugging in your phone. If the android version of your GT-N7100 is 4.1.x, enable USB debugging according to Settings/Developer options/USB debugging.

Could be a defective USB cable, consider replacing it. A phone can be charged using a bad cable but it transfers data incorrectly.

If replacing the cable didn't work, try doing a system restore and restore your computer to a point from several days earlier (before the issue took place)

ill try this once I get home. my version is 4.3 and don't seem to have the Debugging option.

For version 4.3, try to find USB debugging option by the following way.

Settings/About phone(or device)/Build number (continuously tap this item for 7 times)/return to Settings/Developer options/USB debugging

thanks for all the replies, but none of the solutions worked. Like I said before, I connected my phone successfully on my school's computer, so it's my computer's fault. I tried system restore before but it told me that something happened and changes cannot be made. I guess I gotta give up :s
