Root Can't Load HTC SYNC

I just bought an EVO 3D 4G last week and have tried to start to root my phone, to no avail. I know i need to be able to get into the bootloader, but my computer is not seeing my phone. I have the most recent version of HTC Sync, but have noticed that the folder that says HTC Divers is empty. I have aslo downloadd HTC Sync Manager and it would not instal. Also I am running Windows 8. I have talked o HTC ver he phone and they told me they do not have software o somesuch that wors with Windows 8 yet. I knno there has t be a way to get this to work. oif anyone has the drivers that are suppost to be inthe HTC Sync folder please post them. I need to root my phone to get it to whree its suppost to be.

Just download virtual box and get a copy of xp and run it off there if HTC hasn't posted anything for their own product nobody else could have it

This is why my pc tri boots Win7, Xp and Ubuntu. Even to this day a lot of things are iffy on Win7, can't imagine trying to find drivers for Win8.

You have to change the environment variables

I rooted and s-off'd my Evo V from a Win8 machine with no issues. I just used the Win7 drivers. HTC Sync also installed and worked with no issues as far as I recall.
