Can't login to MyVerizon

I went to login to MyVerizon and it won't let me until I change my username.

They no longer allow "." in a user name. I don't want to change my user name.

What inbred idiot made that decision? Do they not make their programmers have computer science degrees? Any competent programmer could parse a login name with "." in it. ANY COMPETENT PROGRAMMER! It's called Regular Expressions, which are based upon Deterministic Finite-state Automata, which people who know computer science are supposed to know -- at least they taught that when I got my CS degree. Google, Yahoo and MSN all allow "." in user id's. Verizon did when I set up my account and now they don't. Now they expect me to go from firstname.lastname which I can remember easily to randomcrap which I can't remember.

I sent a complaint email and they said they forwarded it to the appropriate parties, which I'm guessing means the bit bucket.

Just one more thing on the growing list of things that annoy me about Verizon. If Sprint ever gets their LTE act together, I'm gone.

I always login to My Verizon with my cell phone number, not my user name. The password would be the same for both. And yes, it's frustrating when sites change their login rules. I've had them force a password change that must include a special character. Had to write that one down cause I knew I'd forget it.

I'm guessing you must have a pretty good life if the biggest problem you have is having to change your Verizon login from "first.last" to "firstlast". It really shouldn't be to hard to remember.... i.e. your first and last name without a (.) period in between.

C'mon, don't sweat the small stuff. :smokingsomb:

Yeah it's stupid that they did this. It may have even been a mistake. Regardless, I wouldn't expect them to change anything just to appease you.

I kind of have to agree with everyone else here. It's their site, they can do whatever they want.

"firstlast"? Are you kidding me? What delusion makes you think that's available? Or firstlast1 or firstlast2...

Yes. I tried. My name is a little too common.

As a programmer with nearly 30 years of experience, I am appalled by the incompetence.

It is Verizon's site, I'm not sure what kind of resolution your expecting by posting here instead of taking it up with Verizon.
No one here has any control over how Verizon chooses to make you log into your account, and the solution to the problem (change your login to comply with their site rules like everybody else) has already been offered. This should be thread closed.
