Help Can't make calls or send sms

Hi, I'm really stuck. I have just wiped everything and installed jd1 on my spica but I can't make phone calls or send sms. Wifi is fine. If I try to make a call it doesn't even dial it just cuts off without even trying. Something weird is happening. With the same sms, I take it out put it in my old phone and I can call. Somebody, please please help. Am I missing something stupid here?!

I can't do anything to do with the network but the network is fine having tried my other phone. I also checked if the phone is stolen. Nothing. My phone is great but basically cannot be used as a phone. I cannot send sms/make calls/recieve calls/receive sms.. nothing..
