Help Can't Make/Receive Calls or Texts

Hi, I have sn S3, a little less than a year old. Recently, it started having period problems. The symptoms include:

Won't play any videos from any source (youtube, SD card, phone, netflix)
Won't make any sounds (system, notification, music)
Camera fails as soon as you launch it.
Can't send or receive text messages.
Can't make or receive phone calls.
Most apps will crash or never open.

Typically, restarting the phone temporarily fixes these problems, but then they'll come back. There is nothing specific that triggers it, although you typically notice something is wrong when it won't send text messages.

A few things I have noted:
Phone has an external SD card that is nearly maxed out (80MB free on a 16GB card)

I'm guessing my next step is a factory reset, but I'd like to avoid that if possible due to the inconvenience of having to re-configure the phone.

Any thoughts?

Tbh im sorry but move any important pics/tunes to ext sd then factory reset.
if i could think of a less easy way id tell ya
