Help Can't Move Icons Around Home Screens - Snap Back or Going to Trash

I recently did a factory reset. Now when I try to move icons around the home screens (within the same screen or screen to screen) they almost always automatically go in the trash now when I let go, or sometimes they snap back to where they were.

Any ideas of why this could be happening or how to fix it? Is there a setting I need to change? This was never a problem before the factory reset. It's virtually impossible to drag & move the icons or widgets. They just usually end up disappearing. Thanks!
 
You can try clearing the data for it.
Settings > applications > manage applications > all > then click on launcher and clear data. You will have to redo your screens, but it might help.
I don't think there is an option to lock your screens with the stock launcher but you can double check and make sure nothing like that is going on as well.

Sounds like a good idea. I'll have to try that this afternoon. Maybe it's just something buggy in the data. Thanks! I'll let you know. :)
By the way, do you recommend another free launcher? I tried the "go" one many moons ago and didn't really like it. What do you use?

That absolutely worked! Thanks so much. It's always fascinating what can happen when a little data goes buggy...
 
Can it be that you locked the desktop?

Click menu > more > unlock desktop

It will either say lock desktop (not giving permission to delete/move icons on the home screen) or unlock desktop (giving permission to do so)

i had the same problem a while back.... didn't think about clearing launcher data, i started all over. gonna have to remember this.
