Help can't multitask with browser?

When using the default browser and opening say 2 tabs and then hitting the home button the browser doesn't seem to save any of the pages I was just on. basically hitting the browser again just reloads google which is my home page. But it doesn't seem to allow multitasking?

On my moto Droid I do this all the time

Is this a common issue?

It depends if it does a memory dump or not. I find a lot of times when I hit home all my icons will refresh like it had to free up memory. I think the same thing causes you to lose tabs. If the device needs memory for something else it'll close the browser and forget what you were doing. If it didn't need to free up any memory then when you open the browser back up it'll all still be there. I personally think it does this a little too often.

I think you may be right I now see my browser save tabs sometimes there must be a way to help makeit better. I I wonder if the fact I'm using xmark's and last pass apps also effects this

what I would like to see is true multi-tasking where I can start a page downloading in the browser and click to my map and come back to the browser where the page loaded while i was clicked out of it. I thought Honeycomb was supposed to do this??

mine keeps the tabs. I cant say it completes the page download in the background, i havent tested it though so i do not know

Mine loads pages in the background, my phone did this on 2.1 check your settings

yes it completes downloading int he background. i was on amazons site yesterday clicking and opening new tabs in the browser (chrome) and as the background tab would load id go to another link, click/hold then select open new tab and it would load. id go back to the first newly loaded tab and it would be downloaded. you can even see the URL resolve in the tab thats background loading.. so yes it does support this...

I'm not talking about tabs loading in the background while you're still in the browser I'm talking about starting a search in the market, opening up a few new tabs in the browser, doing a YouTube search thn going back through to all of them via the multitasking button and having had them all finish their tasks in the background (like a PC would). It just seems to hang a little too much and only finishes the task after I click back into it. (It does save my state tho after clicking out)

yes i can do all of that. as tabs load i would press the running apps icon at the bottom left then move to another task, then come back and the tab would continue to load. i dont have any issues with multitasking.

perhaps present a real world scenario that you are having issues with and i will try to replicate.

Agreed. Just did it, but had the issue earlier of losing my tabs while multi-tasking. Was running lots of stuff earlier compared to very little now.

What about other kinds of multi tasking??? I know i can play music and do other things at the same time but can i have msn messenger through hotmail open in my browser and still appear online to my friends when i exit the browser to do another task??? The messenger app doesnt work with my tablet. However i havent tried it since i updated to android 3.2.....
