Ive got installed (I think) in the file manager in PC companion, but when I get to the android window to open a file it wont go in as I dont the "go" button to click.

I thought I kind of knew what I doing but obviously I dont :o

You don't install apps on the pc you do it with a file manager on your phone. So mount your sd when you connect to the computer and transfer the app to it, then with a file manager on your phone install it.

do you have astro file manager?
if not, download it from the market, its one of the most useful tools to have
also get barcode scanner for using the QR codes

heres what i did...
assuming you already have the HTC_IME keyboard installed

1. create the keyboard
2. download onto the phone using the generated QR code
3. open the file using astro file manager
4. click Open App Manager
5. click uninstall
6. click install
7. go back into your sms app and long press the text editor and select 'Input Method'
8. select HTC_IME mod

done

Yea Ive got it..

Where's the barrcode scanner in astro?

Also go to language and keyboard settings and enable it.

Yea did that too

First follow this:
http://androidforums.com/sony-ericsson-xperia-x10/195479-how-install-htc-keyboard-step-step.html

To use the keyboard you made you will need to uninstall the one that you previously used in that thread. Install your new keyboard the same way. You can only have one theme of keyboard installed at one time AFAIK.

So i need to uninstall the traditional one first....bummer :(

Just to ask though.......if I put the Gimpsta keyboard on, will it be the qwerty layout or traditional ?

Because if it reverts it back to a qwerty I'm not doing it as I cant stand it on a phone

theres no barcode scanner in astro, you need to search 'barcode scanner' on the market.

also once installed you will have to alter the settings again, if you want a different layout..

goto settings>language & keyboard>HTC_IME mod settings>keyboard types
then change it a type you prefer.

oh and what i meant with the barcode scanner, once you create a keyboard, you get a QR code like this:

qr-code-justinsomnia.png

you use barcode scanner to scan that image, not the one i posted but the one you get after you create the keyboard so its easier to download the file to your phone.

or just find the file you out on your sd card with astro and go from there

but barcode scanner is great for using these QR codes to get apps quickly :)

I'm miffed now.....I downloaded one and it installed fine, but when I went to open it, it couldnt and said something about requires the installation of the barcode scanner application.

I dont know whats going on, this is all getting to techy for me :o

Ive got the traditional keyboard on ok, its just this Gimpsta one I cant get on plus after downloading a barcode reader it still wont work, saying it needs an application somthing or other to get it to work
