Cant open Handcent

Hi all,

Newbie to android with a HTC Desire. What a phone! Haven't slept for about 2 weeks...its awesome.

Have trawled through this brilliant site and decided to get Handcent SMS from their website, but cant open it on my desire. It wasn't an apk file. Bit of a dunce when it comes to this stuff. A bit's probably light on, more like major. What am I doing wrong?

Just search for Handcent in the market.

It's not available on the Market at the moment but you can get it direct from the maker's website:

handcent.com • View topic - Download Here: Version: 3.0.4

Just download the rar file and extract the .apk and put it on your sdcard - Grab Estrongs file explorer (free from the market) and install from the sdcard or remote onto your pc and install the .apk from there.

Under settings application tick unknown sources and try again

You could always download it direct from handcent, i wonder if they are not putting it on market as there have been a number of releases?

According to their forums their seems to be an issue on the google end of the market - they are apparently working on resolving this but as you have said it is available to download from them
